This exercise in tropical architecture aims to marry a mountain-side retreat house perfect as an urban escape and a multifunctional space for gatherings & events.  The design calls forth our vernacular building ideals perfected from our experience in dealing with the harsh nature of our local climate, with single loaded corridors and rooms opening up to the outside on two sides and ample daylighting and shading for maximum use of spaces during daytime. Simple forms & massing are connected by covered walkways and water elements like the pool and landscaping around the house cool the house down significantly to allow for comfort of the inhabitants. The touch and feel provided by natural materials also give the house the tactility & perceived coziness that most modern minimalistic homes lack of.
